Joy That Goes Deeper
Scripture: “For the kingdom of God is not eating and drinking, but righteousness and peace and joy in the Holy Spirit.”- Romans 14:17
A good report can brighten your day. An unexpected problem can change your mood within minutes. Our emotions often respond to what happens around us, but the joy God gives has a deeper foundation.
Pastor Kevin emphasized that our joy comes from the Lord. Through Jesus, we have received salvation, access to our heavenly Father, and the presence of the Holy Spirit. These gifts remain precious even when our circumstances are difficult.
Knowing who you are in Christ changes where you look for strength. You are loved by God. You have been invited into His family. You can approach Him in prayer because Jesus has made the way. Your life is held by Someone greater than the situation you are facing.
This does not mean you must feel cheerful every moment. Weariness, disappointment, and tears do not erase your relationship with God. His joy can steady your heart while your emotions are still catching up with His promises.
Consider how easily a difficult moment can become the lens through which you view your entire life. One frustrating conversation begins to overshadow every blessing. One unanswered question makes you forget the many ways God has already been faithful.
The Holy Spirit helps us remember what remains true. Our Father is good. Jesus is our Savior. We belong to Him.
Let those truths become the foundation beneath your changing emotions. You can experience a hard day and still have a heart anchored in the Lord.
Prayer: Holy Spirit, remind me who I am in Christ. Establish my heart in the Father’s love, and help me receive the righteousness, peace, and joy of His kingdom. In Jesus’ name, amen.
