Strength for Your New Beginning

Scripture: “Do not sorrow, for the joy of the LORD is your strength.”- Nehemiah 8:10

When the people of Jerusalem heard God’s Word, they began to weep. They recognized how far they had wandered and how much had been lost. Yet in that moment, Nehemiah reminded them that God was restoring them. His Word was being heard again. Their story was moving forward.

Sometimes we approach God with the same heavy heart. We remember missed opportunities, wrong decisions, or seasons when we lived far from Him. Even after receiving forgiveness, we may continue carrying yesterday’s sorrow as though it must define tomorrow.

But God’s Word does more than reveal what needs to change. It reveals the goodness of the One who welcomes us back. Conviction invites us to repentance, and repentance opens our hearts to receive His grace. We do not have to remain trapped in shame when God is calling us into restored fellowship.

Pastor Kevin reminded us that the joy of the Lord gives us strength. Restoration is a reason to rejoice. God has not abandoned His people, and He has not abandoned you.

You may still be rebuilding parts of your life. Some healing may take time. Yet you can receive strength today because the Lord is present in the rebuilding. His faithfulness gives you a reason to lift your eyes.

Let His mercy speak louder than your regrets. The God who brought you back is also able to lead you forward.

Prayer: Father, thank You for welcoming me with mercy. Help me receive Your forgiveness and release the shame I have carried. Strengthen me with Your joy as You restore my heart and lead me forward. In Jesus’ name, amen.
